Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group roster of talent — Meek Mill, Wale, Stalley and now Omarion — are currently crafting the very anticipated compilation album, Self Produced Vol. two. Just before the project debuts on June 26, Massillon, Ohio native Stalley gives insight on the recording approach.
The bearded MC, who released his mixtape, Savage Journey to the American Dream, in March, traveled south to Atlanta to hit the studio with Ross for the adhere to-up to 2011′s Self Made Vol. one. “I throw a great deal of verses on stuff that Ross currently has,” the rapper tells The BoomBox. “Ross is one of people guys that kinda sets records up. He’s like, ‘Listen to this, listen to this and listen to that. Choose what you like then put a verse on it’ or ‘Pick what beats you like and do what you do.’”
While working alongside Ross, Stalley’s witnessed firsthand how the MMG head honcho produces his songs. “He’ll then formulate it or add somebody to it,” he shares. “I could place two verses on it and then it could have a hook that’s just like a reference. Then he’ll take that and he’ll send it to like Ne-Yo or someone and be like, ‘Ne-Yo, sing that hook’ or ‘John Legend, place a hook on that.’ And then the song comes together.”
Stalley is aware of small about the producers or song titles for the new LP. “I do not even know ‘em,” he admits. “He just be like, ‘Here is a folder for Self Produced Vol. 2. Pick what you like. Write to it, place a verse to it.’
Nonetheless, the “Hammers and Vogues” creator is aware of the collaborations that are featured on the forthcoming opus. “A couple of [the songs] had Wale’s [and] Meek’s [verses] and a handful of other artists, I can’t really say,” Stalley discloses. “I’ve completed a great deal of solo songs as well but who knows who will end up on them.

Karmin – Hello
YouTube achievement stories do not get considerably much more ideal than that of Karmin, aka engaged couple Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann. Men and women 1st took notice of these two when Heidemann put Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne and Busta Rhymes to shame with a cover of “Look At Me Now.” Because then, their unique brand of bubblegum hip-hop (see: Nicki Minaj) has earned them a committed YouTube following and a gig on “Saturday Night Live.”
Now they’ve released their 1st album total of original music, appropriately titled Hello. The benefits? Effectively, decidedly mixed.
First and foremost, Hello is quick. Like, Peter Dinklage short. It only contains eight songs, which is possibly for the finest. As much as I appreciate listening to Heidemann go H.A.M., it does get old finally. Karmin was wise to not overstay their welcome, however some could really feel cheated by the album’s brevity.
Hello is mainly a showcase for Heidemann, who has an uncanny capacity to channel Katy Perry’s cutesiness, Kelly Clarkson’s soaring vocals and Nicki Minaj’s hip-hop insanity all at the identical time. Noonan largely does background vocals, which is a wise move for anybody competing against Heidemann’s unbridled vitality.
For the most component, that energy is what makes Hello stand out from the crowd. A song like “I Told You So,” Karmin’s frenetic ode to being right, wouldn’t function if it wasn’t clear that Heidemann has earned some bragging rights. Plus, the ending rap verse is a enjoyable callback to that unique “Look At Me Now” second that place Karmin on the map in the initial spot.
The highlight of Hello is absolutely “Brokenhearted,” the pop anthem that hits “Call Me Maybe” ranges of catchy. Okay, it isn’t very that infectious, but it’s the single that will get the most radio perform. The album’s opening track, “Walking On The Moon,” exhibits off the versatility of her voice, however lyrics like “got me stumbling like a adore drunk alien” leave a bit to be desired.

10. Whitney Houston Channels Large Hair and Power Vocals for Diet plan Coke
Diet Coke was 1st introduced in 1982, and 4 years later, Whitney Houston — fresh off the release of her eponymous 13x platinum 1985 self-titled debut — was plugging the a single calorie soda with her diva hair and slim figure. Houston attached her higher notes to the “Just for the taste of it!” slogan, generating it sound like it also was Grammy worthy. Sadly for the iconic singer, a different sort of “coke” would lead her down a distinct path.
9. Paula Abdul Dances for Diet Coke
Paula Abdul filmed several dance-tastic montages for Coca-Cola Company, but the most well-known of the bunch is this 1991 Diet plan Coke ad that paired her with her childhood dance hero Gene Kelly, amongst other folks. Diet program Coke was even now a “a single calorie” drink, and Abdul’s 1988 debut album, “Forever Your Lady,” had 4 tracks — “Straight Up,” “Forever Your Woman,” “Cold Hearted” and “Opposites Appeal to” — that all reached No. one.
