Lana Del Rey hit the stage of ‘The Voice U.K.’ to carry out ‘Blue Jeans.’ Looking beautiful like a delicate flower in a short white frock and matching heels, Del Rey performed with no a lot mobility, standing in a stationary spot, swaying back and forth and tossing her hair. By now, astute LDR watchers know these are the hallmarks of her performance design. But how was her voice on ‘The Voice?’

In a word: enhanced.

Del Rey’s been criticized for her inability to sing live (and canceling tour dates didn’t improve anyone’s self-confidence in her reside prowess) but her voice sounded very angelic. The staging was beautiful, too, as she was bathed in blue lights, with white twinkles dotting the landscape behind her.

Lana nevertheless does not go wild when she performs, and we don’t feel she ever will, selecting to as an alternative stand nonetheless and connect on that more intimate level.

Immediately after singing, she blew a kiss, laid the mic down and left the stage.

Stagecoach 2012: Some highlights — Miranda Lambert, Dave Alvin

Stagecoach 2012: Some highlights Miranda Lambert, Dave Alvin
Right after a comparatively low-key very first day of the Stagecoach Country Music Festival on Friday, with just a half-dozen acts on a single stage, the music kicked into high gear Saturday. On the second day, all 3 phases have been up and running with 17 a lot more acts representing nation, pop-country, alt-nation and each other form of hybrid nation music below the desert sun.

That’s downright modest compared to the complete sensory and routine overload of the 143 acts that played the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for the two previous weekends, but still adequate to develop some tough selections among concurrently scheduled performers.

For instance, do you catch 85-year-old bluegrass master Ralph Stanley at the expense of a rare possibility to hear singer-songwriter J.D. Souther, a single of the architects of the Southern California nation-rock sound that’s been the template for much of what is been coming out of Nashville for the final two decades? And then miss out on rising Texas singer songwriter Sunny Sweeney, who was on the Mane Stage at the exact same time as Stanley and Souther?

Such are the dilemmas of Stagecoach 2012.

A single solution: in a music festival equivalent of culinary grazing, attempt to get a representative, if truncated, sampling of as several bands as feasible.

His band The Duke &amp the King was preparing to release their second album Long Reside the Duke &amp the King, the stick to-up to 2009’s critically admired Practically nothing Gold Can Remain, And Felice’s wife was heavily pregnant with their initial little one, a double blessing given the couple had previously suffered a late-term miscarriage the preceding yr.

But Felice, who very first gained a following playing alongside his siblings in folk-rock act The Felice Brothers, was not feeling on best of the planet in the early summer of 2010. In reality, he was feeling like hell warmed over. “If you look at pictures of me, I was just pale and grey,” says the singer, 35, more than the mobile phone from his property “on a cliff” in upstate New York’s Catskill Mountains. “I did not have insurance, I never ever went to the physician. I did not know it, but I was little by little dying.”

Felice is not speaking metaphorically. Immediately after suffering a string of fainting spells, the singer finally sought health-related guidance and was informed that he essential rapid heart surgical procedure to rectify a congenital defect that was severely decreasing blood flow to his brain.  “They told me, Mr Felice, there’s no health-related explanation why you are even now alive, you need to have emergency open heart surgery tomorrow,” he says.

He would. Felice “busted out” of the Medical Center immediately after just a number of days of convalescence—“Hospital is the final place I want to be when I’m not feeling well”—and his daughter, Pearl, was born a month later.  “We had her up right here in the mountains with a midwife,” he says. “I cut the cord and I was just robust sufficient to choose her up. She looked me in the eye and it was virtually like a rebirth. It was like I was born the exact same moment she was born. I wrote the song ‘You &amp I Belong,’ the same day.”

Lana Del Rey performs ‘Video Games’ on ‘American Idol’: Watch it here

lana del rey 510 Lana Del Rey performs ‘Video Games’ on ‘American Idol’: Watch it here

Are things looking up for Lana Del Rey? Her debut album Born to Die moved nine spots up the Billboard album chart this week, and her sexy video for “Blue Jeans” managed to get her back in the conversation on the Internet (even if a lot of that conversation involved allusions to Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game”).

Last night, her road to redemption continued when she got on stage on American Idol and performed “Video Games” for the umpteenth time on television. Was it her finest performance of the song yet, and has she improved since the great SNL debacle of a few months ago? You be the judge below.

She still seemed a little hesitant at the beginning, but from the second verse, she really turned it on.

Del Rey’s appearance on Idol should be an exhibit in the growing case against how Del Rey was handled. She has charisma and an affinity for the style of music on Born to Die, but it was obvious from Jump Street that she was not ready for prime time.

It still could be a while before she has enough experience under her belt to handle a true headlining set, but there’s a huge difference between this and the SNL performance, or even the performance on Letterman that everybody crowed about.

Review: Guns N’ Roses at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip

Review: Guns N Roses at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip

All around the 3rd-hour mark of Guns N’ Roses’ Property of Blues set, which wrapped up a three-date club swing Monday, a man and his lady understandably looked as if they needed to get in touch with it a evening. They put on their leather jackets and moved towards the club’s exits around three:15 a.m. Then, from their left, a drunk man with a wispy blond pate swooped upon them. Like a circling falcon that had just spied a wounded hare, he cornered the two back into a grotto of the club. “This is GN’R on the Sunset Strip!” the stranger slurred. “You can’t go property however, dude!”

The dude and his date stayed.

For individuals who have been waiting decades for the iconic L.A. band to return to the scene that birthed it fully formed as lithe, riff-slinging gods, this wasn’t just a sort of challenging-rock Gettysburg reenactment. It was a cri de coeur for the concept that rock music — played on guitars, sung by dudes in ripped jeans and vests with no shirts — has not only in no way died but also has kept up a type of underground resistance motion to the crafty, sleek dominance of pop. And that Axl Rose, for all the volatility and budget-sapping notion albums and curious sartorial choices, had turn into the movement’s Che Guevara.

To leave GN’R ahead of the final curtain contact — even at three:30 on a Tuesday morning — was a variety of treason. The lifer followers at  the Residence of Blues were having none of that.

Frederick M. Brown, Getty Images

The coaches are eager to fill their teams with the needed twelve singers, so spots filled up on Week 3 of the Blind Auditions of Season 2 of ‘The Voice.’ We see them still encouraging each and every other to push the button for singers they believe are appropriate for the other, with Christina Aguilera typically encouraging Adam Levine and Cee Lo to push their giant buzzers, whilst Blake Shelton muses about contestants becoming great-looking.

Host Carson Daly has a tough work, stationing himself backstage with the singer’s families and friends, expressing aggravation and bewilderment when the judges don’t turn their chairs close to. He’s in an unenviable position of obtaining to comfort families when contestant dreams are destroyed. But he remains likeable and supportive the total time.

We’re asking yourself if the judges are finding whiplash from turning close to so rapidly, as well.

We’ve observed that Shelton practically constantly turns his chair about immediately. He just knows from the get-go. Levine is exceptionally picky and bends more than his button although absorbing a perf. Xtina and Cee Lo also take fairly some time to smash their buzzers. Shelton truly tends to make this show funny. One particular question though. What’s with the cat that Cee Lo was cradling in the course of his interviews?
