After foremost off his ‘#willpower’ album by proclaiming himself ‘T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever),’ will.i.am aims to present a more universal message on the record’s second single, ‘This Is Adore,’ an up-tempo pop song with hip-hop and electronic components.
‘This Is Love’ features the vocals of Eva Simons, who co-wrote and sang on Afrojack‘s breakthrough hit ‘Take Above Management.’ The track opens quietly with will backed up on piano as he sings about discovering love tonight. The pace picks up with the arrival of Simons, who asks, “Can you feel the really like?”
The song, reportedly developed by Swedish House Mafia‘s Steve Angello, surges ahead with a pulsing beat that leads into will’s rap verse in which he announces that his love is not for a unique lady, but for music itself: “This is love for the beats, feel it in the streets / Really like for the melody, notes on the sheets / The dope crusader, funky terminator / I developed me a rocket just so we could rock it later / And the way the beat is knocking got me feelin’ alright / Result in the DJ got me walking on the ceiling all evening.”
The singer/rapper goes on to proclaim his really like not just for violins and cellos, but also for “the personal computer beats, tougher than metal.”
The verdict? We like ‘This Is Love’ and its sunny melody greater than ‘T.H.E.,’ largely thanks to Simons, whose vocals carry the tune and make it sound like a poppier Black Eyed Peas song. ‘#willpower’ is anticipated to drop soon but nevertheless does not have a confirmed release date.

You likely recognize her from her Oscar-nominated turn as the title character in 2009′s Valuable, but Gabourey Sidibe now stars in Showtime’s cancer comedy The Massive C, which is at the moment in the middle of its third season.
On C, Sidibe plays Andrea Jackson, a mouthy student who requires a class from — and turns into near with — the show’s lead character, Cathy (Laura Linney). The actress acts, of course, but one of her other passions is music. “I consider it is simply because my mom’s a singer,” Sidibe lately told EW. “I’ve usually had this connection with music exactly where it’s anything. It is not just a pastime. It is not just a thing in my daily life. It is every thing, whether or not it’s a profession or not. It is not my profession, but I develop wary of talking about acting.”
With her really like of music in thoughts, EW checked in with Sidibe about what she’s rocking out to on her iPod, and she happily chatted about her pics, supplying up her preferred jams from Jessie J, Flo Rida, and numerous other individuals.
JESSIE J, “ABRACADABRA” “This is about how you are not looking for love but just — abracadabra! — it transpires. It’s not actually the enjoy portion of the song that gets me, it is the abracadabra-ness due to the fact I’m a freak and I’m really actually into magic in a weird way. I’ve often been fascinated by things popping out of nowhere. That’s what this song reminds me of.”
BRUNO MARS, “LIQUOR Retailer BLUES” “It’s really alluring. The melody is actually, actually attractive and the music is truly sexy, also. There is a thing about the story. I’m such a weirdo. I hear music without having lyrics, and I see an complete soap opera. I presume this song is about a street dancer who’s broke as hell, singing a song outdoors a liquor store. He just desires sufficient money to get some liquor and a lotto ticket. He says, ‘Trying to scratch my way up to the leading.’ He’s attempting to win the lotto, but it’s all possibilities and what not. It’s actually just the likelihood of being a street performer. You make tips. Odds are you’ll never be heard, but it is almost like the lotto in which perhaps you will be heard. Maybe you will be recognized, and perhaps you will make it. I type of dig that factor of it — anything in daily life is a lotto scratch, in a way. You can insure a scratch by going to school or whatever. Everything’s a lotto scratch. We’re all just taking our chances.”

Live review: KROQ’s Weenie Roast y Fiesta
Coldplay, Incubus, Soundgarden and more define a rock aesthetic.
What exactly does a rock band need — and in what quantity — to distinguish itself in today’s exuberantly eclectic pop landscape?
Along with branded seashore balls and remembrances of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, that query appeared to fill the air Saturday at Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, exactly where KROQ-FM (106.7) presented its annual Weenie Roast y Fiesta. The daylong concert — headlined by Coldplay, with performances by Incubus, the Offspring and an unannounced Soundgarden, among others — offered several profitable takes on defining a pop aesthetic, but tiny consensus on the matter.
Even now, the Weenie Roast’s range advised a thing a lot more promising: that in “a Black Eyed Peas world,” as a single KROQ DJ place it, rockers are thinking challenging about how to specialize their music. A big crowd response, when it occurred, appeared virtually secondary to the effort concerned.
