Rihanna Named International Female Solo Artist At 2012 Brit Awards

Rihanna has had two factors to celebrate this week. The “Umbrella” singer celebrated her 24th birthday and took residence a BRIT award.

Rihanna was named the International Female Solo Artist at the 2012 BRIT Awards, held Tuesday, February 21st at London’s O2 Arena. The superstar, who toured heavily in 2011, went head to head with Lady Gaga, Fiest, and Icelandic singer Bjork for the title.

The Barbadian born singer has had an exhaustive year. Members of the paparazzi closely followed RiRi’s moves, from cancelled concert dates due to illness, to her alleged romance with “We Discovered Love” video co-star Dudley O’Shaughnessy. Latest rumors have surfaced that she may be attempting to kindle the romance that she when had with former boyfriend, R&ampB singer Chris Brown.

Brown was charged with assaulting Rihanna in 2009. Photos of the battered and bruised singer surfaced the media just days later and the two ended their romantic relationship. Rihanna and Brown have been exchanging brief, but public messages by way of their Twitter accounts, sparking the rumors and controversy.
