Lana Del Rey, Skylar Grey Perform In L.A. to Honor Jimmy Iovine

Following an outstanding video tribute seeking back on a career that has witnessed him operate with John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Lady Gaga, to title a few, Jimmy Iovine joked, “Oh, that factor offers me a headache.”
The producer and executive was honored at L.A.’s Village Studios last night by the Grammy Awards’ Producers & Engineers Wing. For the duration of a witty speech, Iovine stated he at first had doubts about accepting the honor. But later, in a private green-area reception, he advised Rolling Stone why he determined to be the honoree. “I feel the most cozy about record producers,” he explained. “How I work in music now is via other people, and it is in no way failed me. That’s why this factor was essential to me.”
People “other people” came out in droves to support him, which includes will.i.am, Dr. Dre and Stevie Nicks. “Jimmy is not afraid to say what he likes and does not like,” mentioned Mary J. Blige on the red carpet. “He’s not afraid to be sincere. He is a musician himself.” In his speech, Iovine spoke typically about his close relationship with Dre, saying, “Wherever I am appropriate now, I would not be here with no acquiring met him.”
The evening featured two of the Iovine’s newest acts: Skylar Grey, who carried out a sparkling solo piano medley, and Lana Del Rey.
The latter has, of course, been the concentrate of significantly scrutiny recently. It’s a difficult microscope for any artist to discover themselves underneath, but in a area filled with some of the largest stars in music, business heavyweights and the media, Del Rey delivered a stellar efficiency of her hit “Video Games.”
Iovine had hefty praise for the singer, repeatedly referring to her Born To Die debut as a full album from start off to finish and telling the crowd the label was entirely committed to her. For Iovine, showcasing some of Interscope’s new talent – the two of whom he predicted would be back at the Grammys next year – was a fitting way to celebrate. Every person else needed to retain the spotlight on him.
