Clogs – “Last Song” (Feat. Matt Berninger) Video

The pretty, spare “Last Song” appears on Clogs’ The Creatures In The Garden Of Lady Walton as well as the Last Song EP, a download-only single that pairs it with two unreleased B-Sides. For those of you unfamiliar with Clogs, the band features Bryce Dessner as well as frequent National collaborator Padma Newsome. This particular track also includes Matt Berninger’s familiar baritone. In another National-esque twist, the song’s video was put together by twin brothers. We’re told Benjamin and Stefan Remirez-Perez are “studying film and animation at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany and the Vancouver School’s Digital Design program, respectively.” They’re also making elegant, ghostly videos for Clogs.

FRIDAY VIDEO TIME: The Highly Subjective Totally Debatable List Of The Best Songs That Start With The Letter “Q”

It’s Friday Video Time, that special day of the week again when we honor the top songs over the last 50 years that start with a specific letter of the alphabet. This week we move on to the letter “Q” as in, “Que Lastima! How are we going to find one great song per decade that begin with this queer letter?” If only we had the help of Gloria from White Men Can’t Jump on this one. See what artists earned a spot in our “Q” collection by clicking below.
As always we love hearing your thoughtful comments your personal music picks, so tell us what you think.

Russ Chimes’ Midnight Club EP trilogy by Saman Keshavarz – the trailer
Having made a very big impression with his only video so far – the award-winning Cinnamon Chasers’ Luv Deluxe – Saman Keshavarz is about to deliver his very ambitious follow-up.
It’s a trilogy of videos to accompany the three songs from Russ Chimes’ Midnight Club EP, and on the basis of this stunning trailer, we can expect another gripping modern film noir – but with Saman (who recently signed to Warp Films in the UK) now working in a different league of thrills and spills.
Each video, for the songs Never Look Back, Tertre Rouge and Targa, will be released one after another during August.

L.A. Record throws itself a 100th birthday party Saturday
The last time we checked in with the good folks at L.A. Record, they hosted a 3-D extravaganza that looked like the most mind-sauteeing concert in recent memory as part of their long anniversary celebration. This Saturday, however, they'll be partying in glorious analog to celebrate their 100th issue — a seriously incredible feat for a printed music magazine in 2010.
The 100th issue, the rag's first as a quarterly, looks to be boiling over with good stuff — chats with FlyLo, Ariel Pink and scads of simmering new locals like Teen Inc. and Active Child (many of whom pop up in a swell mixtape); horoscopes by local folk mystic Ariana Delawari, who probably actually sees the future; and a sprawling new arts and books section.
But Saturday's party at a warehouse downtown will probably be one of the weekend's must-go shindigs — sets by the awesomely-named Chicano Batman, Manhattan Murder Mystery and John Carpenter, and the first chance to pick up the new issue. We will be there trying to restrain ourselves from taking to the halfpipe and embarrassing our friends.
– August Brown
L.A. Record's 100th Issue party is at 1269 E. 6th St. in downtown L.A. 6 p.m. Sat. , free to "L.A. Record 100" cardholders. All ages.
Avey Tare Down There Album Info

Following in Panda Bear’s footsteps, Avey Tare has himself a lone Animal album coming out this fall. Down There, recorded by the most elusive of Animal Collective members Deakin, is Avey’s first complete solo outing. It was reportedly inspired by crocodiles (reptiles, not the San Diego band). Take a closer look at the croc cover art while you read over the tracklist.
