Lady Gaga Thanks Her Little Monsters, Calls New Album “The Anthem For Our Generation”
A lengthy article in New York magazine called “Growing Up Gaga” hit newsstands this week, perfectly timed with Ms. Germanotta’s 24th birthday. Some think that the article had mostly disappointing things to say about the bold-and-brash feminist-minded artist (including her initial weight loss credited to “diet pills and one real meal a day”), but you can read the in-depth pop star play-by-play at your leisure to reintroduce yourself to the Lady you thought you knew so well.
For now, let’s focus on what lies ahead for Gaga in her 24th year—an upcoming arena tour in the U.S., and a third album due later this year. She previously called the follow up to The Fame Monster her “best work to date,” but provided even more info—maybe even a song?—on her fans’ message boards.
Here’s what Gaga had to say about her forthcoming album in the Gaga Daily chat box Sunday night (and yep, it was really her):
LITTLE MONSTERS! THIS IS GAGA! I JUST SAW YOUR VIDEOS, IM VERY EMOTIONAL. GOD BLESSED ME WHEN HE MADE YOU.

Live Review: Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore at McCabe’s
This weekend was all about triumphant rap, parking-lot emo and deep South minimalism. But in the tiny back room of McCabe's on Friday night, Daniel Martin Moore and Ben Sollee made a much quieter, but maybe more insistent, statement of modern musical identity.
The easygoing singer-songwriters, both Kentucky natives, collaborated on February’s “Dear Companion,” one of the loveliest and most articulate Americana records in recent months.
Its success is built largely on the duo’s close harmonies and adventurous string work, but "Companion" is also the rare record created entirely for specific activist purposes — namely, to raise awareness of a particularly destructive mining process called mountaintop removal, which has wreaked environmental havoc across Appalachia.
But Moore and Sollee made their point Friday with a set of understated, graceful virtuosity. Bolstered by a bewitching multi-instrumentalist string-and-percussion duo, the quartet made propulsive, rambling tracks such as “Something, Somewhere, Sometime” sound clear and intimate, while the Carter Family-indebted “My Wealth Comes to Me” felt charged with the weight of a hymnal.
Spoon/Deerhunter @ Radio City Music Hall, NYC 3/26/10

You already saw shots from Spoon and Deerhunter’s DC show, but Radio City Music Hall is a tour stop worth documenting. To that end, Dan Harris noted that Britt Daniel’s parents were beaming and taking photos of their son during their set. Photographer Natasha Ryan also took pictures of their son, as well as openers Deerhunter and the Strange Boys, who’ve both been part of Spoon’s current tour. Spoon brought out a horn section to enlarge some songs, because RCMH’s 6,000-seat auditorium can sometimes dwarf some performers. Eleanor Friedberger, Dan Boeckner, and White Rabbits’s Stephen Patterson came up to do songs with the band, who paid them back by assisting on some of theirs. Boeckner and Spoon did Wolf Parade’s “Modern World.” Yes there’s video:
