Lil Wanye Avoids Jail Time Again Due To Courthouse Being “On Fire”
Lil Wayne tweeted a message to his fans today, saying “they kant lok up my heart bekuz y’all already have it on lok,” but it appears he wasn’t just continuing his string of deep thoughts—the rapper’s sentencing has been canceled due to a fire in the basement of a Lower Manhattan courthouse. Either he’s one lucky guy, or somebody was inspired by his “On Fire” vid. Wayne is due back in court tomorrow to begin his one-year jail sentence, but expect Weezy to film at least a dozen more music videos til then.

Screen Jams: ‘Almost Alice’
Screen Jams is our recurring look at the most buzzworthy new music featured in movies, TV shows, and video games—pretty much any form of entertainment you can enjoy with your eyes.
When Lewis Carroll’s vivid and colorful Alice in Wonderland is the source material, you’d assume creative minds would be spinning with new ways to tell the story’s sense of fantasy, whimsy and delirium. We won’t know whether Tim Burton’s cinematic reimagining of Alice’s adventures down the rabbit hole accomplishes this task until the film is released in theatres this Friday, but the movie’s inspired-by soundtrack, Almost Alice falls short of evoking Alice’s strange and twisted journey. There are a few tracks that win us over, but ultimately, we’re the ones mad at a hatter that such a promising opportunity was wasted on generic rock-lite tunes and throwaway Wonderland references.
As we previously noted, the soundtrack’s opener, Avril Lavigne’s “Alice,” is an emotive, ethereal track… until she begins to shrilly scream-sing the chorus to bits—the shouting makes it very difficult to enjoy this otherwise pretty song on repeat listens. We’re pretty sure Paramore’s Hayley Williams could have belted this song out no problem, but alas, she’s already got enough angsty soundtracks under her studded belt.
We would have preferred a more experimental, oddball song to open up the soundtrack to such a nonsensical story—not this inspirational rock ballad. Still, the melodic “Alice” is a nice change of pace from Avril’s obnoxious phase on The Best Damn Thing, which was getting as old as her pink extensions (which have since been replaced with a set of more somber black highlights).
Today In ‘Idol’: Top 10 Guys And Girls To Switch Places Tonight?
:: The Top 10 Girls were supposed to take the stage tonight—but rumors are swirling that a girl is sick, so the Top 10 Guys will be performing instead. Either way, let’s hope both groups rewatched last week’s dreary performances and kick their game up a notch. [Rickey.org]
:: Season 3 finalist Elliot Yamin is still stuck in Chile after the fatal earthquake, and is running low on diabetic supplies. Yikes. [Idol Chatter]
:: Hilariously awful Season 8 contestants Norman Gentle, Tatiana Del Toro and Kristen McNamara filmed a TV pilot called “Takin’ Over Hollywood.” Please tell us Sanjaya and William Hung will play the wacky next door neighbors and Bikini Girl is the main love interest. [Vote For The Worst]
:: Carly Smithson, who’s band We Are The Fallen is about to release their debut album, rocked out with Season 7 amigo David Cook on stage at one of his concerts. After the jump, check out Carly on vocals and David playing a mean guitar on Heart’s “Barracuda.” [MJsbigblog]

Surprise! OK Go Makes Another Amazing Video
It’s pretty much a given that any music video made by OK Go will be groundbreaking, unique and, most importantly, fun. In fact, the band has so many good ideas bouncing around their brains, they filmed two separate music videos for their single “This Too Shall Pass” with two distinct, incredibly outrageous concepts. The first one had a live marching band, and the second one—filmed in one shot while utilizing a Rube Goldberg-style machine in a giant warehouse—has everything else. Watch it below.
OK Go – “This Too Shall Pass”
This is all well and good, but can OK Go’s machine make me breakfast like Pee Wee’s can? Back to work, fellas!
